Hi, I’ve been following you on Twitter for some time. I, too, am a huge collector and sharer (that’s probably not a word) of quotes. However, I am bothered by the lack of attribution. When you pass along the words of someone else, but don’t acknowledge the source, you are not only being disrespectful, you’re also putting yourself in jeopardy. What’s your reasoning for not adding the source?

    Barbara,

Its for the pure lack of space. In the twitter messages we only have 140 characters. Adding the sources would be taking up the majority of the main message of the quote/tip. If you go to http://startupstudent.com/twitter/listall.php you can view all the sources of any quote that we have.

We are working to fine tune our quoting system on a daily basis. This is something we have discussed in detail and continue to discuss. I will bring it up again at our next meeting and see if there is any way we can include the sources.

I hope that helps answer your question.

    Barbara,

I am happy to announce that we have finally fixed the problem. Now all quotes coming out of the system should have a author at the end of them and they will be encapsulated in “” as well.

Thanks for caring so much about how quotes are displayed!
